History

QCFC started in 1966 and proceeded to grow with the savings and loan industry, with such clients as Home Federal. With the changes in the banking market place in the late 70’s, QCFC developed into the prominent Tenant improvement contractor in Southern California. To maintain the growth QCFC moved to a 20,000 sqft facility in downtown San Diego. Also, as a union contractor, the development of the company progressed rapidly through many local union general contractors. QCFC contracted with Smith Barney for offices all over the country, and worked with such companies as Koll construction, and completed many of the their rise buildings in their first occupancy in Southern California. This included Imperial Bank building, Emerald Shapery building, Symphony towers of San Diego.

Through the recession of the 80’s, QCFC once again changed. Many contractors went through a non-union phase; tenant improvement contracts were divided between laminate plastic (LP) casework and the architectural woodwork for the customer’s best value. QCFC understood this trend, and understood the need for service and quality. After having contracts divided between LP and stain grade architectural woodwork and subjected to LP casework suppliers that could not meet schedules, quality or savings, it was decided in 1989 that QCFC would start their own facility for these products. In 1989, QCFC entered the long cycle of development in our Facility Mexico which today stands at over 60,000 sqft.

Through the late 80’s and early 90’s QCFC performed many contracts for just staying alive for 1995…. QCFC completed such projects a Tri City Hospital, Kaiser, Rees Steely, and Ziemed. QCFC once again had to diversify again, which led to the largest sustained growth years for QCFC. In 1984 QCFC moved into their current headquarters of over 62,000 sqft in San Diego.

QCFC entered into the Retail industry in 1996. In 2003, QCFC was requested once again to make another shift with its clients, with the background of Retail, Hospitality, Country Clubs, Yachts all culminated in the ability to complete the total interior of a Casino.
